Tension headaches are usually characterized as being evenly dispersed headaches which occur on both sides of the head. Chronic tension headaches may occur up to 15 days of the month, while episodic symptoms may occur less often. Symptoms typically develop gradually over time and are symmetrical by nature, as opposed to migraines, which are usually sharp in nature and develop suddenly from a centralized point within the head. Tension headaches are the most common type of headache.
