General Information on Chlamydia Infection
Chlamydia is an infection that occurs in the urethra and reproductive organs of both males and females as the result of a bacterial growth. It can be transmitted sexually and as a result can also be contracted by infants during pregnancy through the eyes and/or lungs.
Symptoms of Chlamydia Infection
Symptoms will often remain unapparent during the early stages of infection. As the infection spreads so will the symptoms increase. Symptoms are typically worse in females than in males and may include:
Vaginal discharge
Urethral discharge
Anal discharge
Anal pain, redness, or swelling
Stomach discomfort
Fever
Penis reddening
Vaginal reddening
Pain during urination
Genital pain
Treatments For Chlamydia Infection
Through proper medical treatment Chlamydia is curable. Adequate medical treatment consists of the administration of antibiotics to the infected patient as well as to any people the patient has been sexually involved with. Complications, including infertility and liver infection, may arise if left untreated.
